The second part of our vacation, we visited the rest of the parks. Epcot has always been my favorite. I love the fact that you can get a little taste of every country by just walking a few feet. Crepes in France, Sweets and souvenirs from Norway, and beer samplers from Germany. It was The Food & Wine Festival at Epcot and so we made sure that we drank plenty of wine, beer and Martini samplers along with great food.
We rode the iconic Maelstroms for the last time before they closed it down this week to create a new Elsa & Anna ride. Scarlett is happy about this. She hated this ride last year and remembered it from just the building. She refused to go near it. I made Ty and Scarlett take a photo in front of my favorite spot, The Rose & Crown Pub. (I'm a Roseanne fan and Dan drank a Yarder there. I still wish they served them.) We ate at Cinderella's Castle for breakfast. What a fun experience! First, you get your photo taken with Cinderella, then they lead you up the spiral staircase to their Royal Restaurant. Not only did they give out wands and special stars, but all the Princesses came out and went from table to table to meet the kids. Scarlett was over the moon about this.
We also decided to let Scarlett do the Bippity Boppity Boutique in the Magic Kingdom this year. I made the reservations about 7 months in advance because I know they fill up quickly. Scarlett got to choose which princess she wanted to be. My sensible girl said, "I'll be Belle because I have brown hair like Belle." Once she chose which Princess she wanted to be, they led us into a dressing room where her dress, tiara and wand was waiting. Once she was done, they brought her to the chair and let you pick nail polish, make up and a hair style. Scarlett was just in awe over it all. It was definitely the highlight of our entire trip to see her light up when they spun her around in the mirror to see her final look. Every night after that she wanted to wear the dress for dinner. She danced in Epcot under the ball all evening long to music playing in France. Although a little pricey, it was totally worth it to see the smile on her face. We got to keep the dress, polish, all the accessories as well.
The Sci-Fi Dine-In in Hollywood Studios was SOOO cool! The restaurant is inside in the dark. You eat in cars set up to watch a theater just like the Drive-Ins. I loved the old movies that they played and the food was pretty good too. We also ate at Wolf Gang Puck's Dining Room in Downtown Disney and Jiko at the Jambo House. Marrakesh is a new restaurant in Morocco. I loved the Quick Service dining last year but I wasn't too impressed with the food this year at the new restaurant. It was mediocre, although the atmosphere was pretty cool and Scarlett loved the Belly dancers. I HAD to find the Cinnamon Glazed Almonds since they are my favorite. And we did.
All and all it was a great vacation. A few rain showers here and there but nothing a poncho couldn't handle. I'm glad that we got to experience a new resort. We stopped by the Grand Floridian which we were discussing going to next year….although I've put a little hint in to Ty that it would be really cool to go to Hawaii! We'll see…...
